She’s a witch, she’s a bitch, she’s a devil woman
Her power is too much for the fragility of man
She’s too smart, she does math
(How dare she question the educated man)
She heals, she uses earth and nature to medicate
(How dare she undermine man’s modern medicine)
She does not need man, she must hate them all
(That’s fair, she probably does)
She has red hair, she’s a spawn of Satan
(Also fair, maybe we are)
We were always taught to fear the witch
But never the men burning them
And thus our problems began
Toxic masculinity of the late 1600s
Still holds a stigma on the witches of today
But don’t you realize it wasn’t an attack on the “witches”
It was an attack on the WOMEN
The strong-willed, self thinking, nonconforming women
They were a risk to the big, strong men trying to control society*
Trying to control the *women in society
Rape them, keep them pregnant, lock them at home
Abuse them, use them, and then tell you love them
“It’s for your own good. That tongue of yours is too sharp”
“I can not let you embarrass me in town with those thoughts”
“Who will raise my 20 children and keep me fed if you don’t stay in this home”
But how foolish were they…
A witch finds her magic in solitude
Leave her to fester in her own thoughts and anger
And she will rise above it all
Channeling all her energy and listening to nature
Nature becomes her church
Nature becomes her Goddess
While religions call it prayer
And spiritualist call it manifesting
Witches call it spells
But why do spells bring fear…
While the prayers get praised?
